CAROLYN WEATHERS
LOS ANGELES GAY LIBERATION FRONT
Carolyn Weathers was in the Los Angeles, California, Gay Liberation Front during the gay liberation revolution circa 1969+. The Los Angeles Gay Liberation Front used guerrilla theater and bold takeovers. On October 17, 1970, the LA GLF crashed a convention of mental health professionals. They were advocating electroshock. The group also proposed “Stonewall Nation,” a separatist queer community and political majority in Alpine County, California’s least-populated county. If enough gay liberationists moved, they could create a majority. The Gay Liberation Front (Don Kilhefner, Jon Platania, Morris Kight, et al.) eventually founded the Gay Community Services Center, now the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
